Robert & Sally’s dream kitchen
with an extension in the works, Robert and Sally from Guildford needed expert guidance on their kitchen so that it would serve their sociable lifestyle as well as their daily routines.
Their primary challenge for us was to create an area that was fully functional as a kitchen but in which they could also entertain friends and family.
the large L-shaped space needed to incorporate an open plan formal dining space alongside freely accessible areas for preparing and cooking food.
blending practical solutions with sociable details
Introduced to us by their interior kitchen designers, the social aspect of Robert and Sally’s brief really helped to inform our approach to the layout.
- All the cleaning elements and drinks preparation areas were kept to one end of the space, with a contrasting tall bank of units at the other end for food storage and ovens.
- This freed up the central island/breakfast bar for cooking and preparation only, so that Robert and Sally could interact with their friends and family whilst hosting.
