With an extension in the works, Robert and Sally from Guildford needed expert guidance on their kitchen so that it would serve their sociable lifestyle as well as their daily routines.
Their primary challenge for us was to create area that was fully functional as a kitchen but in which they could also entertain friends and family. The large L-shaped space needed to incorporate an open plan formal dining space alongside freely accessible areas for preparing and cooking food.
Blending practical solutions with sociable details
Introduced to us by their interior designer, the social aspect of Robert and Sally’s brief really helped to inform our approach to the layout, as follows:
- All the cleaning elements and drinks preparation areas were kept to one end of the space, with a contrasting tall bank of units at the other end for food storage and ovens.
- This freed up the central island/breakfast bar for cooking and preparation only, so that Robert and Sally could interact with their friends and family whilst hosting.
- The materials selected for this Fusion Linear kitchen are fresh, modern and very easy to maintain (leaving more hours in the day for good times!)
- Anthracite ceramic laminate worktops (the industrial feel of porcelain and Dekton but at a fraction of the cost).
- Stylish mirror gloss acrylic and laminate doors in ‘Alpine White’.
- Blanco Elon ‘Silgranit’ inset sink with Quooker Fusion round taps.
- Single oven, compact microwave-oven and warmer for full versatility in cooking their favourite meals.
